Why We Should Give

Sharing was one of the first lessons we learned as children. And of course, for many of us, it wasn't an easy one. But I've always felt that God gives to us in order that we might share Him with others through sharing His blessings--whatever they are.

When I was in college, I worked in the recruitment dept. I attended La Sierra University in Southern California. Ever the broke college kid, I was thrilled to discover one night that the local Del Taco had a two for one burrito special. Or buy one, get one free--however you like to think of it. So I bought my two cheap burrito.

Upon leaving the drivethrough, I saw a woman and a small child. The woman had a shopping cart the child was sitting in and she was just there. It didn't look like she was going anywhere or had anywhere to go actually. I was suddenly impressed to give her my burritos. I certainly wasn't going to starve if I didn't have them. So I went over and gave them to her. She seemed happy and offered her thanks. I left and headed to work on campus.

Once seated at my desk, my co-worker walked in with a bag. "I don't know why I got two burritos," she said. "You want one?"

When we give of whatever we have, it never goes unnoticed. And God is always faithful to supply our needs.
